Transport to the Campsite
Most people concentrate on what the need once they arrive at the campsite. But in reality your choice of transport to the campsite is one of the most important decisions you can make.
Your mode of transport will determine how much equipment you take with you and also how far you are able to travel during the vacation.
Hiking
Travelling on foot means that you will have to carry every single piece of equipment you need on your back. Every ounce matters! Everything you take will need to justify its inclusion or simply leave it at home.
Bicycle
Again, weight is of paramount importance. However, you will be able to cover greater distances per day so variations in climate are more likely.
Motorcycle
You will be amazed at just how much you can take with you if you pack well. Small luxuries such as an airbed can make the trip more comfortable as they pack down to a reasonable size. Remember to keep the center of gravity low and the weight will hardly be noticable. Also: motorcycle camping
Car
Lets face it, when you travel by car you can take almost as much as you like with you. That doesn’t mean that you can be wasteful with the available space, rather you can afford a few more luxuries.
RV or Motorhome
This is the ultimate in camping accommodation. You literally take everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink! It’s no wonder that motorhomes have become so popular. RV camping is the five star hotel of the outdoor world.
