In the beginning, men followed the stars. They managed to traverse great Oceans armed with nothing more than a clear sky and a sense of adventure.
Then came maps. These became ever more sophisticated, showing a three dimensional terrain on a two dimensional piece of paper. We used a magnetic compass to show us which direction to take. And then we became REALLY confused!
Now we have the wonder of Satellite Navigation and GPS systems that can tell us exactly where on the planet we are. And we STILL manage to get lost!
As navigation becomes more sophisticated we are tempted to put all our faith in the technology without question.
Personally I think that relying completely on the latest equipment means missing out on a large part of the holiday fun!
By all means buy the latest SatNav system but don’t forget to scour a few maps of the area, you never know what hidden gems you may find.
