Camping Equipment
In this section we are going to take a look at all the camping equipment options and hopefully shed some light on what is essential for a successful trip.
One of the biggest factors dictating how much camping equipment you can take with you is your mode of transport. If you are carrying all your worldly goods in a rucksack on your back then believe me, every ounce saved is a godsend!
Another determining factor is your destination. For example, a machete is hardly an essential item when camping for the weekend on a National Park campsite. On the other hand if you are roughing it for a few weeks miles from civilization then it could be your most used tool.
It is not always necessary to take every single item with you whenever you venture out. Especially if weight or space is at a premium. Many popular camping destinations have well stocked provision stores located for your convenience.
When buying camping equipment it is good practice to buy the best you can afford that will do the job you need. But that doesn’t mean you need to spend a fortune on the latest state of the art extras. For example, my motorcycle toolkit stowed under the seat was a match for any Leatherman multi-purpose gizmo!

This meant that I could carry almost everything I needed for a full three-week tour of Europe on my motorcycle without spoiling the ride.
